This is what i am missing and this is what i am not missing

A few months back, i quit my job to work freelance. This decision was taken so that i could spend more time with my son (Siddanth).

This is what i am missing..
  • Interacting with my peers and team members (especially the informal chats!)
  • Working on stretch projects
  • Fun, laughter and gossip over coffee.
  • Training programs (those i was nominated from the organization)
  • Being stressed about upcoming dead lines
  • Looking forward to weekend after a challenging week
  • Routine in my life
  • Freebies from office (diwali gift, T-shirts, goodies etc)
  • MONEY credited monthly into my bank account !
  • Conversation with my boss on new ideas / process changes to facilitate employee engagement (in a coffee shop / adda next to office)
  • Talking to employees and managers  - 'heart to heart'
  • Facilitating training programs (especially interviewing skills and management skills)
  • Sense of achievement !
This is what i am NOT missing..
  • Being constantly disturbed on my mobile on week ends and late in the night
  • Meaningless meetings that go one for ever (no results achieved)
  • Late night staff meetings via telecon
  • Being consumed by the email devil - constantly hitting re fresh button and responding to emails
  • Staying back or working on weekends with no specific goal (just catching up on work)
  • Team get together where everyone is bored and dying to leave
  • Un healthy (read politically oriented) escalations (read noise).
  • Creating presentations (for your boss) for some random meeting (that you are not a part off)
Having written this list, i am not sure if i should feel good or bad with my decision !

Woo! I can identify with this. I must confess that the bank credit - or non-credit did hurt a bit! :-)

However, the time spent with Vidur my son was priceless. At the end of the day, absolutely no regrets!
