Re-unions

Yesterday I had the fortune of spending time with a few friends from the past....

A  few fact about old friends that is universal & relatable by all of us

We don't meet them (in person) very often
We knew them in another time (at least a decade or more ago)

Be prepared : Some reunions are fun and others are simply dreadful.

The next time old friends, work colleagues or class mates meet & re-unite -

Ask yourself
Q1. Do I truly want to meet my friends from the past or is it forced social obligation ?
Q2. How do I feel about myself in the presence of my old friends or colleagues ?
Q3. What has changed in me ? In what ways have I grown & changed over time ?

Here is my response to these questions based on yesterday ....

A1. I did want to meet my work colleagues - there is always laughter, teasing and an informal energy about meeting these specific people.
A2.  I felt very secure and anchored in myself.
A3.  I realised the joy of having discovered my own path - professionally in the past few years. This insight was significant especially since i knew these friends from an earlier work context

Signing off until i meet someone from the past again
Have a great day !

World Environment Day & Kids

Today is World environment.
Most schools are celebrating it.
My kids know that today is an important day for precious earth.

I am wondering as a parent what I can do to help my kids appreciate the importance of the environment. Here are some simple doable tips.

1. NO ~ Plastics: I am very conscious of not buying bottled water as much as possible. Help your kids say no to plastic as much as possible.
Tip : Always carry drinking water & shopping bags

2. Segregate Waste ~ My young kids already understand the difference between wet waste and dry waste. They also understand basics of composting. With more awareness, the kids may help say no to dry waste and find ways to re-use and re-cycle. Thanks to my mother, the kids are exposed to vermi-composting. They see the hard work done by earthworms.
Tip : Don't miss the opportunity to help your kids appreciate the amount of waste your household generates, what can be done about it.

3. Bio diversity ~  Make sure your kids walk in gardens, visit lakes, bird sanctuary and jungles. They need to love their bio-diversity. Help them see the connect between trees, birds & animals. They have to realize that they are the custodian and voice of mother earth.
Tip : Travel away from concrete jungles into the real jungle
